TOP 3 WATTPAD BOOKS

1. BAND ON THE RUN by chooseitwisely
Fresh off a tour that hasn't quite ended, she's back, hoping to get her feet firmly on the ground with Nick by her side. Keely thought it'd be easy to forget about her past and the people in it with Seth on a separate continent along with Will and Jake keeping a steady distance. However nothing seems to run along a smooth path for her.

This book is the sequel to 'Just What I Needed'.
This book is one of my all time favourites, not just within Wattpad but all books. Sadly, this book is still a work in progress and not yet finished but don't let that stop you from starting this series.

It's been eight years since Keely Staub moved to New York City once and for all. Eight years since the iconic band The Spares was formed by she, Seth, Jake and William. Four years since every part of her life was shattered.

2. SAVE MY DAY by Sallyscissors

Damon Jacobs is new to the Hollywood scene. His bad boy attitude and sexy British accent make this up-and-comer someone to watch out for. Topher Ashton has been a Hollywood Heartthrob since he was a teenager. He’s the one all the girls want and all the guys strive to be. Even with a miserable past; Topher is the envy of all. It’s the premiere of one of Hollywood’s newest blockbusters. Costars - and best friends - Topher and Damon are set to be the newest ‘It-boys’ when ‘Save The Day’ their new superhero comedy hits the box office. Will one drunken after-party change everything? And more importantly, will they lose a great friendship or will everything work out ‘for better or for worse’?

Up to this point I had never read a m&m book and boy was a missing out! The relationship between Damon and Toph was beautiful and without the pettiness and bitchiness found in heterosexual relationships. This is a must read for all romance lovers!

3. FAKING IT by MishaHicks

If the world can’t handle the truth, give them a spectacular lie." Bitch. That’s what they called me at my old school. I disagree: I’m just brutally honest, that’s all. Some people don’t like honesty. Exhibit A: Matthew’s family. None of them want to acknowledge that their Golden Boy is gay. Exhibit B: My Mother. I only told her the truth: that she was a crappy parent who never should've gotten knocked up in the first place. But she was so offended that she shipped me off to my fabulously wealthy father and his walking-billboard-for-plastic-surgery of a wife. So I devised a brilliant plan. My new friend Matthew was sick of hiding his sexuality. I was tired of obnoxious rich boys hitting on me. So why not pretend to be dating? He wouldn’t have to answer uncomfortable questions anymore, and I’d enter my new school as the girlfriend of the star quarterback. It should be easy, right? Of course, I didn't plan on falling for Matthew's brother.

This book is great! The heroine has a quirky and original personality. All the characters are well thought out and you can't help yourself from falling in love with all of them. You won't be disappointed if you choose to read this book!

KING HALL

KING HALL AND BY SCARLETT DAWN

KING HALL
Genre: Paranormal/New Adult/Romance
Recommended age: 15+
Goodreads rating: 4.37
My rating: 5 stars

*This review contains spoilers*

King Hall — where the Mysticals go to learn their craft, get their degrees, and transition into adulthood. And where four new Rulers will rise and meet their destinies.

Lily Ruckler is adept at one thing:  survival.  Born a Mystical hybrid, her mere existence is forbidden, but her nightmare is only about to start. Fluke, happenstance, and a deep personal loss finds Lily deeply entrenched with those who would destroy her simply for existing — The Mystical Kings.  Being named future Queen of the Shifters shoves Lily into the spotlight, making her one of the most visible Mysticals in the world. But with risk comes a certain solace — her burgeoning friendships with the other three Prodigies: a wicked Vampire, a wild-child Mage, and a playboy Elemental. Backed by their faith and trust, Lily begins to relax into her new life.

Then chaos erupts as the fragile peace between Commoners and Mysticals is broken, and suddenly Lily realises the greatest threat was never from within, and her fear takes on a new name: the revolution.

Where has this book been hiding! I spend hours scrolling through books on Goodreads and then I came across this book, which when I finally clicked out it seemed to be the #1 a lot of lists. I wasn't sure whether I should read it, as I have a habit where if I see a book with a bad review and automatically dismiss the book. Despite seeing the dreaded bad review I picked it, and boy was that a good decision.

I haven't read paranormal books for a number of years as the majority are poorly written and with predictable storylines, but this was anything but! The friendship between Ezra, Jack, Pearl and Lily was beautiful and the progression of this friendship was realistic. I'm a sucker for friendship books (you only need to look at how much I adore The Book Thief) and it's a refreshing change from the 'love at first sight' or 'jumps into bed straight away' novels. The sexual tension between Ezra and Lily kept me on the edge of my seat but without taking the focus away from the story line. WIN WIN.

The Kings were some of my favourite characters. There competitiveness and there habit for betting always get me entertained. They came up with some inventive punishments too! They were a great source of knowledge and helped keep the story line moving along.

Although I gave this book 5 stars by no means is it perfect. The ending  was poorly done when you found out her Uncle had abused her. There was no mention of this throughout the novel and it felt like Dawn just went 'I need more drama in this scene, lets wack this in'. I would like for it to of delved deeper into this and the repercussions it would of had on her emotionally rather than just being a chapter filler.

Also the pacing wasn't great, it felt like I was all over the place. One minute she was depressed the next everything was fine without much indication that a large period of time had passed. Maybe this was why I didn't sympathise with Lily that much because it gave the impression that she didn't care when in fact a number of months had just passed.

All in all, I would whole heartily recommend this boos. It was like a breath of fresh air.

MY RANT

I was trying to find a good book to read and when reading the synopsis of them multiple things kept coming up that really annoyed me.

For starters what is it with books where both their parents have died in a car accident. A ridiculous amount of books use this format and everytime I come across it I end up putting the book down.  I mean get an original idea, it seems a cop out idea where they want the character to have more depth so they'll make them have a traumatic past which they can easily do it without much character progression.

To show love the author uses sex. Sex does not equal love it shows lust. Books shouldn't need to do this to show intimacy-there is such a thing called TALKING. Don't get me wrong, when done well I like reading them but that I need more than that in a book so I can connect to the characters.

Another pet peeve I have is nightmares about their past. It seems a lazy way to hint to the reader about their traumatic past rather than the character developing until she opens up about her past. Also after studying sleeping cycles in psychology they are so unlikely for a different event to come up everytime she sleeps and if that was the case we have a different dream every 90 minutes why isn't she waking up everytime? I don't mind flashbacks too much when they are done well such as in 'Poision Study' by Marie. V. Snyder.

Finally, the last thing I hate in books is when they have multiple characters who's name all start with the same letter. My brain just can't cope and it takes a while till I can distinguish who each character is and if that doesn't happen early on, I normally end up putting it down because I can't be bothered trying to work it out any more.

ALWAYS YOU

ALWAYS YOU

BY KIRSTY MOSELEY

Genre: Teen Fiction
Recommended Age: No one
Goodreads rating: 4.06
My Rating: DNF

Riley Tanner has a best friend, the best friend a girl could ask for. He’s supportive, loyal, honest, trustworthy, kind, and thoughtful. He’s also the biggest player in school.

Their relationship has always been easy and affectionate, but after Riley’s month long vacation, things become a little strange. She starts to look at him in ways that go way beyond the ‘friend zone’. Add in her best friend’s rival, and things become a whole lot more complicated.

Now I don't usually write reviews on books I didn't finish but this book got me so frustrated I think it warranted for one.

I'm up to chapter 3 and I'm just done with this book. It's defiantly going on my DNF pile.

I liked the idea for the storyline and I really love best friend romances so I was hopeful for this book. However, as soon as Blake came in it just turned into the most predictable plot, and I was just getting bored. Love triangles do not make an interesting story line!

The dialogue was just appalling- I've read Wattpad books that are better than this and that's saying something.

The characters were extremely dense I felt like knocking their heads together. We all know giving each other hickeys to mark your territory is a sure sign of friendship! *exasperated sigh*

How anyone could stand these two enough to even finish this book needs a pat on the back, I can only think it was determination to finish that could get someone to read it all as it definitely wasn't the 'original' storyline or the 'relatable' characters.

I will not be recommending this book

ADDICTED TO YOU

ADDICTED TO YOU

BY KRISTA AND BECCA RITCHIE

Genre: New Adult
Recommended age: 18+
Goodreads rating: 4.10
My Rating: 4 stars

She’s addicted to sex. He’s addicted to booze…the only way out is rock bottom.

No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.

Their real vice may be each other.

Wow, this book surprised me! I've read other books in the past about sex addicts and i'm not gonna lie, they were done poorly and portrayed them as little more than sluts and whores who just wanted a good time. But this book was very different.

At first the book frustrated me with all the meaningless sex Lily has and how dependant Loren was on alcohol, but as the book progressed I started to empathise with the characters and I loved the journey they both took as they battled their addictions.

The book took a positive turn when new characters were added; Conner and Ryke. Not only did they had drama but I finally had someone I could will to try and change Lily and Lorens addictions. Connor was, although a insensitive jerk, really did amuse me and many times I found myself smiling at the book.
Don't get me started on Ryke *swoon* Where can I get someone as caring and determined as him? Not to mention hot. His determinination to try and help Loren was so heart warming and I hope anyone going through a similar thing has someone has awesome as him.

I'm going to carry on reading this series plus the spin off series as well.

PHASE 1 (Lily & Lo):
{#1} Addicted to You | {#1.5} Ricochet | {#2} Addicted for Now

CODE NAME VERITY

CODE NAME VERITY

BY ELIZABETH WEIN

 Genre : Historical fiction
Recommended age:14+
Goodreads rating: 4.14
My rating: 5 stars

I have two weeks. You’ll shoot me at the end no matter what I do.
That’s what you do to enemy agents. It’s what we do to enemy agents. But I look at all the dark and twisted roads ahead and cooperation is the easy way out. Possibly the only way out for a girl caught red-handed doing dirty work like mine — and I will do anything, anything, to avoid SS-Hauptsturmführer von Linden interrogating me again.
He has said that I can have as much paper as I need. All I have to do is cough up everything I can remember about the British War Effort. And I’m going to. But the story of how I came to be here starts with my friend Maddie. She is the pilot who flew me into France — an Allied Invasion of Two.
We are a sensational team.

I love historical fiction but i had yet to diverge into WW2 books. Boy, was I missing out! This book was heart wrenchingly beautiful. The characters were very realistic and they didn't make any stupid mistakes, that as a reader, would make me want to leap into the book and throttle some sense into them.
For me I found Queenie the more interesting character between the two,and I wished they had spent more time on her story than Maddie. But none the less, I liked the change of perspective to Madies POV. I felt for once that the change was necessary, not a simple and quick way to fill a book with stuff you already knew.
I'm gonna end this review here before i divulge any information about the story line. But i'll leave you with this: GO READ THIS BOOK!

DIVERGENT BY VERONICA ROTH

DIVERGENT

BY VERONICA ROTH

Genre: Dystopian, Romance
Recommended age: 12+
Goodreads rating: 4.32 stars
My Rating: 5 stars

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, Tris also learns that her secret might help her save the ones she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

I can whole hardily say they've made it on to my OTP list.My review:I have recently read a lot of dystopian books, and thought surely that there wasn't any original ideas left! But, boy, was I wrong! Veronica Roth creates an interesting , yet terrifying world where nothing is quite as it seems and it drew me in straight from the go. There was everything I look for in a book, a strong heroine,a swoon worthy  hero, a web of lies and conflict! As you can imagine I was in rapture, you couldn't pry the book out of my hands until I had finished it.Tris was such a likeable heroine, as she never felt like she quite belonged, a feeling we can all relate to.  She was a strong character, and after making the decision to join the Dauntless faction finds herself fighting other initiates or face a lifetime of being factionless  *shudder*.  It is then she meets Tobias, or Four as he likes to be known. He was the most perfect, imperfect hero, that I could of wished for. You could see he genuinely cared for Tris, no matter the odd ways he tried to express it. Roth teased us with Four and Tris interactions that always had me wanting more. Tris: “Peter would probably throw a party if I stopped breathing.'    Four: Well,' he says, 'I would only go if there was cake.”

Danger. This book was jammed-packed with the stuff! Tris found herself thrown into the deep end facing initiates that were physically stronger, and quicker than she. But that’s not just where the danger ends, Erudite seems to have its claws out for Abnegation.I can hand and heart say GO. BUY. THIS. BOOK. I swear you won’t regret it!

THE BOY WHO SNEAKS IN MY BEDROOM WINDOW

THE BOY WHO SNEAKS IN MY BEDROOM WINDOW

BY KIRSTY MOSELEY

Amber Walker and her older brother, Jake, have an abusive father. One night her brother's best friend, Liam, sees her crying and climbs through her bedroom window to comfort her. That one action sparks a love/hate relationship that spans over the next eight years. Liam is now a confident, flirty player who has never had a girlfriend before. Amber is still emotionally scarred from the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father. Together they make an unlikely pair. Their relationship has always been a rocky one, but what happens when Amber starts to view her brother's best friend a little differently? And how will her brother, who has always been a little overprotective, react when he finds out that the pair are growing closer? Find out in The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window.

I really like reading self published books; as I often spend my time reading them on Wattpad, but they’re not for everyone. There is always a down side to self published books as they are often littered with grammatical errors which I feel the need to shout to my sister ‘I’ve found another one’ while I’m reading. However, although there was some,  it could have been worse and they didn’t detract from the overall feeling of the book.
Now, on to Liam and Amber.  Yes they have an adorable relationship, I mean he called her ‘Angel’ because he thought she was one when they met at 6 years old, that would make any girl swoon. However, recently I have developed a hatred for pet names in books, which did not work in this books favour. In my opinion pet names are over done and have become a cliché. Where is the originality?

I don't think changing to Liam's perspective added anything to the book. I thought it was realistic the insecurities Amber faced about whether he was going to cheat on her or not, but adding Liam's perspective quenched these worries as you could see how much he absolutely doted on her, erasing any possibilities of it happening. This detracts from the mysteriousness of the book and made it almost sickly sweet.
Although there was some downsides, this book had its positives, such as the glimpses into her abusive past were tastefully done and she got the balance of how many to put in just right. Enough to live you on the edge of your seat but few enough that you weren’t over run.

All in all I recommend this book.
4 stars.
